About this resource

This brochure introduces Beyond Arctic PASSION (2026–2030), an EU-funded initiative involving more than 40 partner organisations working to strengthen Arctic environmental monitoring and turn observations into actionable knowledge.

As the Arctic experiences rapid environmental change, the project aims to address gaps in monitoring, fragmented data systems and the need for stronger international cooperation. By connecting satellite observations, scientific research, autonomous technologies, Indigenous Knowledge and community-based monitoring, Beyond Arctic PASSION seeks to establish a coordinated, inclusive and sustainable Arctic Observing System of Systems.

The brochure outlines the project’s objectives, approach, key activities and international partnerships. It highlights how improved access to reliable environmental information can support risk assessment, early warning systems, community decision-making, environmental governance and evidence-based policy.

It also explores the project’s commitment to open and interoperable data, meaningful Indigenous participation and long-term sustainability, ensuring Arctic observations continue to benefit communities, researchers, policymakers and industry beyond the project’s completion.
