New Gtn-P Strategy And Implementation Plan Published

The Global Terrestrial Network for Permafrost (GTN-P) Secretariat at Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (AWI) proudly released their GTN-P Strategy and Implementation Plan for the years 2021 to 2024 this week.

The GTN-P Strategy and Implementation Plan can be seen as a framework for GTN-P – it describes the governance and management structure of GTN-P, shows linkages to regional and global observing systems, and describes the management process and reporting strategies. The release of this document is a milestone for the GTN-P and also a good showcase of progress in Arctic PASSION’s work on a Pan-Arctic requirements-driven Permafrost Service,  a contribution to the overall Pan-Arctic observing system of Systems and a product of tight collaboration between the Nunataryuk and Arctic PASSION projects.

GTN-P also published the GTN-P measurement recommendations and guidelines, an interim document which will eventually be replaced by the WMO Permafrost Best Practices.
